Ceylon Teachers' Service Union states that principals and teachers of government schools around the country will report on sick leave tomorrow and engage in trade union action tomorrow. Its General Secretary Mahinda Jayasinghe states the reason for this.
It was also stated that three rounds of talks were held for the present government only to win their demands. It was recalled that a group of principals and teachers staged a protest in Colombo on the 14th of February. However, Mahinda Jayasinghe speaking on behalf of the Ceylon Teachers' Services Union stated that the strike action called for tomorrow was called off due to the lack of a positive response.
It was further stated that due to these trade union struggles the academic activities of the schools too could be affected.
